New Barn Timber
Products are proud to have made a significant contribution to this
outstanding feature at the 2010 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
Home Grown is a new
feature at this year's Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, demonstrating
the diverse range of fruit, vegetables and cut flowers that can all be
grown at home.
Visitors to the Home
Grown area were able to see model gardens demonstrating the many
different fruit and vegetables people can grow in Britain, as well as
ideas for growing methods.
The Home Grown area
features:
-
A model market
garden: growing sweet potatoes, balsam pear, edible loofahs in a
polythene tunnel and hydroponic growing methods for crops such as
rice, tomatillos and papayas.
-
A traditional
orchard: complete with 25 year old apple trees, a small flock of
Brahma Chickens & a Pair of Saxony Ducks with room to free range and
even a pond for the ducks to take a bath.
-
An outdoor cut
flower area: featuring a section of flower crops, such as sweet
peas, cornflowers and Sweet William, demonstrating the increasing
popularity of cut flowers.
-
A model farmland:
with crops of sunflowers, oil seed rape, wheat, barley, oats and
maize bounded by a species-rich hedgerow.
The brief for New
Barn Timber was to design and build three bespoke buildings for the
Traditional Orchard area of this fabulous feature:
